USSC Associate Professor Dr David Smith talks to ABC Drive about declining interest in the upcoming presidential election amongst voters. Dr Smith cites that “only 64 per cent of people say that they’re ‘very interested’ in the election,” and among young voters aged 18-34, “only 36 per cent say that they’re ‘very interested’.”

These rates of interest have declined from 2020, and Dr Smith posits that “people are getting exhausted” with their available choices.

“After three elections in a row of these very unpopular candidates, one of whom is in his eighties and another approaching his eighties, people are just turning off.”
